About The Position
In this position you will be providing a valued service, by assuring public health and safety. This position will examine and oversee the general health of all animals at St. Louis County's animal shelters. The schedule for this position with either be Sunday-Thursday (8 hour shifts) or Sunday-Wednesday (10 hour shifts).
Requirements
- Equivalent to one year of experience working with animals in a veterinary or similar environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist staff with examining and evaluating the overall health of all animals in the shelter.
- Assist staff with euthanization procedures as directed by veterinarian.
- Assist staff performing surgery and monitoring animals during recovery period.
- Assist in conducting pre-adoption health examinations and preparing animals for adoption.
- Adapt practices to ensure the most current approaches to animal health and welfare are implemented.
- Assist shelter staff and co-workers on the proper feeding and care of animals in the shelter.
- Lifting, pushing, or pulling of items weighing up to 50 lbs will be required.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
