About The Position

The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) is seeking a Technician Assistant to join their Cardiology Service. This role involves working alongside cardiologists and Licensed Veterinary Technicians to provide patient care, communicate with clients, manage appointments, and ensure the smooth operation of a busy specialty service. The ideal candidate is curious, flexible, comfortable with both animals and people, and eager to learn, even without prior cardiology expertise. The position offers opportunities for growth and increased responsibility as skills develop.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and safely restrain patients for echocardiograms, blood draws, radiographs, and other diagnostics
  • Help facilitate outpatient appointments and in-hospital Cardiology consultations
  • Start medical records, enter charges, transport patients, and help coordinate patient flow
  • Communicate with clients in person, by phone, email, and other approved platforms
  • Help answer client questions and concerns with guidance from cardiologists and LVTs
  • Prepare, stock, clean, and organize equipment, exam rooms, and treatment areas
  • Assist with basic technical duties according to training and experience
  • Pitch in with logistical and operational tasks to keep the service running efficiently
  • As skills grow, take on more responsibility with Cardiology appointments, including obtaining patient histories and guiding patients and clients through visits.
