The Veterinary Student Externship provides a hands-on learning experience for students in their third or fourth year of an enrolled Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The program is typically scheduled in two-week blocks at the hospital. Students who are open-minded and willing to learn are expected to benefit most. Externs perform inpatient and outpatient medical care under the direct supervision of veterinary staff, carry out in-house diagnostic tests, provide routine client education, and assist with surgical procedures.
