Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical environment (preferably a veterinary facility) with increasing responsibilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position may be considered.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including receptionist experience.
  • Ability to perform clerical duties with speed and accuracy, operate a multi-line telephone system, handle cash and other forms of payment, and interact closely with clients and patients daily.
  • Ability to quickly learn, pronounce, understand, and accurately spell commonly used veterinary terms.

  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing exceptional customer service to make our clients feel welcomed and appreciated
  • Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar for clients
  • Coordinate and communicate with veterinary staff to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services
  • Remain calm in stressful and emotional situations while confidently interacting with clients in person and on the phone.
  • Maintain accurate client records and update client information as necessary
  • Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through the collection of client transactions, following all cash and credit card handling procedures, and following proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, veterinary procedures, medication administration, and all other hospital services/procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
