About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at Church Ranch Veterinary Center. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps ensure that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The assistant also contributes to clinic operations by maintaining medical records, preparing equipment, supporting reception, performing laboratory tests, and keeping the facility clean. The posting describes this as a part-time ER position requiring night and weekend shift availability.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Be friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, attentive to detail, an effective oral and written communicator, and a strong team player with technical skills.
Be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently lift 40 pounds and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Be able to use a computer system and multi-line telephone.
Be able to handle dogs on leashes.
Be able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.
Be comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.

Responsibilities

Ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
