About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an Oncology Veterinary Assistant at its Olympia, Washington hospital. The role supports veterinary technicians and doctors in caring for oncology patients, including patients receiving chemotherapy infusions. The position requires assisting with chemotherapy preparation and administration, patient restraint and monitoring, IV catheter preparation, and stocking and cleaning. Pay is $22–$29 per hour, with the starting rate dependent on leveling through the competency system.

Requirements

Ability to safely dispense, reconstitute, and administer subcutaneous and intramuscular chemotherapy agents.
Comfort with patient restraint.
Ability to properly wrap and shave for an IV catheter for chemotherapy infusion.

Responsibilities

Assist technicians and doctors in monitoring patients receiving chemotherapy infusions.
Set up materials for short- and long-duration chemotherapy administration.
Restrain patients as needed.
Safely dispense, reconstitute, and administer subcutaneous and intramuscular chemotherapy agents.
Stock supplies and clean.
Wrap and shave patients appropriately for IV catheter placement for chemotherapy infusion.
