About The Position
Bennett's Creek Veterinary Care is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support patient care and the medical team. The role assists veterinarians and technicians with hands-on care, helps create a smooth client visit through scheduling, payments, and communications, and maintains a safe, clean hospital through clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance. The position is on-site in Suffolk, Virginia, and is classified as full-time. Compensation is $15–$17 per hour, based on experience and role. As part of Mission Pet Health, the practice offers support and resources from a larger veterinary network while emphasizing local practice autonomy, collaboration, and medical excellence.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Fundamental veterinary skills in laboratory, pharmacy, nursing, and radiology are a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist the medical team with hands-on patient care, treating animals with compassion and respect.
- Anticipate and support the needs of veterinarians and technicians to promote an efficient, collaborative workflow.
- Assist clients with scheduling, payments, and communications in a courteous and informative manner.
- Maintain the hospital through clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance.
- Handle pets of different sizes and temperaments.
- Use fundamental veterinary skills across laboratory, pharmacy, nursing, and radiology as applicable.
