About The Position

Seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a hospital team that feels like family, while having the support and resources to push your career forward. Located just 5 miles from the beaches of the Jersey Shore, VCA Toms River Animal Hospital is a 7 doctor general practice offering wellness and sick care, digital radiography including dental x-rays, surgery, FAST ultrasound, rehabilitation and laser therapy, acupuncture, in-house bloodwork, and hospitalization. This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. The pay range for this position is $17-$22/hr.

Requirements

Experience as a veterinary assistant is required
A positive, encouraging and supportive attitude
Excellent communication skills
Flexibility in hours including (but not limited to) evenings, weekends, and holidays
Willingness and capability to be cross-trained in reception and kennel
Working knowledge of computers
Team player mindset, willing to learn new techniques and treatments

Responsibilities

Assisting Veterinarians with appointments
Assisting Veterinarians with surgeries and anesthetic dentistry
Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
Maintaining medical records
Filling prescriptions
Providing compassionate care and a "home away from home" for hospitalized pets
Providing exceptional customer service for our clients
