Emergency Veterinary Assistant (part-time)
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring a part-time Veterinary Assistant for urgent care and emergency services at Church Ranch Veterinary Center in Westminster. The hospital is a full-service small-animal practice with eight DVMs, a support team, and modern diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental equipment. The clinic follows AAHA utilization guidance and encourages the assistant to work at the top of their skill level and contribute as a clinical leader with a patient-first mindset. The role focuses on nursing and triage, including critical-patient monitoring, advanced wound care, and managing catheters and feeding tubes. It also includes diagnostics such as radiography and positioning, in-house laboratory analysis, and sample collection. Career growth support includes paid precepting, skill checkoffs tied to career-ladder milestones, and leadership training. Fear Free-focused training and certification are supported.
Responsibilities
- Monitor critical patients and provide nursing and triage care.
- Perform advanced wound care.
- Manage catheters and feeding tubes.
- Conduct radiography and patient positioning.
- Perform in-house laboratory analysis.
- Collect samples.
- Work at the top of the assistant's skill level and contribute to clinical leadership with a patient-first mindset.
