Veterinary Assistant/Veterinary Receptionist
About The Position
Redwood Animal Hospital is hiring a Veterinary Assistant. This role is part-time, with a salary range of $18 – $24 per hour. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, with potential for Friday/Weekend shifts in the future. Requirements
- Safe and effective patient handling and restraint
- Knowledge of preventative care and vaccines
- Competency in emergency and surgical care - including IV catheter placement
- Experience obtaining diagnostics- including radiographs, phlebotomy, and sample collection, and in-house lab work
Responsibilities
- Obtain thorough histories, vitals, and patient assessments.
- Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Review treatment plans confidently and clearly with pet parents.
- Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record.
- Educate clients with compassion, clarity, and confidence.
- Answer phones, route calls appropriately, and respond to voicemails promptly.
- Check patients in/out and ensure accurate client and patient information.
- Collect payments, process invoices, and review estimates with clients.
- Handle client concerns with empathy and professionalism, escalating when needed.
