About The Position

Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) is an AAHA-accredited emergency veterinary hospital that has proudly served pets and families throughout the Inland Empire for more than 50 years. We are continuing to grow with the goal of expanding to 24/7 emergency care, and we are looking for experienced Veterinary Assistants and RVTs who want to be part of that growth. If you enjoy emergency medicine, hands-on patient care, anesthesia and surgery, and working alongside a team that supports one another through busy shifts, we would love to meet you.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a fast paced veterinary hospital setting
  • Hands-on anesthesia experience is required
  • Previous experience assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures is required
  • Comfortable monitoring patients under anesthesia and throughout recovery
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient status and communicate concerns appropriately
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and responsibilities in a fast-paced ER environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate medical record keeping
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a medical team
  • Recent graduates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology are encouraged to apply if they have sufficient hands-on anesthesia and surgical experience through clinical rotations, externships, or previous veterinary employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency, urgent care, specialty, and critical care experience are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians with emergency patient care, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
  • Assisting veterinarians during emergency surgical procedures
  • Preparing patients and the surgical suite for procedures
  • Performing and monitoring anesthesia, including recognizing changes in patient status and communicating concerns to the veterinarian
  • Monitoring patients throughout anesthesia and during post-operative recovery
  • Monitoring hospitalized and critical patients and communicating changes to the medical team
  • Accurately documenting treatments, anesthesia monitoring, observations, and patient updates
  • Maintaining clean, organized, safe, and well-stocked treatment and surgical areas
  • Helping keep patient care moving efficiently during busy ER shifts
  • Supporting your teammates and contributing to a positive, collaborative hospital environment
