About The Position

Animal Eye Care Center is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join its independent veterinary ophthalmology specialty practice in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The role involves working on complex cases alongside two board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists and a resident, with opportunities to learn specialized ophthalmic diagnostic testing. The practice emphasizes empathetic, personalized care, clinical integrity, mentorship, and collaboration.

Requirements

Exceptional client communication skills and professional courtesy.
Comfort managing patients of all sizes under anesthesia, including patients on a ventilator.
Ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members through empathetic communication.
Adaptability and openness to new professional challenges.
Ability to work independently and recognize when to ask for help.
A state credential (CVT, LVT, or RVT) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients and support them as an advocate for their patients.
Manage patients of all sizes under anesthesia, including patients on a ventilator.
Prepare surgical sites and care for surgical instruments.
Maintain anesthesia machines.
Perform venipuncture and prepare laboratory specimens.
Learn to conduct specialized ophthalmic diagnostic tests.
