About The Position

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) invites applications for 1 full-time faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesia and Pain Management. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications but can be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates must have a DVM degree or equivalent and advanced residency training in Anesthesia and Pain Management. Preference will be given to those who are diplomates of the ACVAA (or ECVAA), but candidates who are ACVAA or ECVAA board-eligible may be considered. A PhD is preferred but not required. The position is an in-person job opportunity located on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.

Requirements

  • DVM degree or equivalent.
  • Advanced residency training in Anesthesia and Pain Management.
  • Must be willing to reside on the Caribbean island of St Kitts.
  • Research expertise, as evidenced by a record of funded research and peer-reviewed publications (required for Associate Professor rank).
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching professional DVM students in anaesthesiology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the instruction of veterinary medical students.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students throughout the University.
  • Provide primary after-hours emergency support in anesthesia (shared backup support by anesthesia faculty).
  • Primarily didactic and laboratory instruction of veterinary medical students.
  • Be involved in continuing education, committee service, and curriculum development.
  • Participate in 3 semesters per year of teaching didactic lectures and laboratories.
  • Provide consultation and support for clinicians in the Ross University Veterinary Clinic.
  • Engage in research (20% of time).
  • Engage in service (10% of time).
  • Conduct research publications or other scholarly activities to advance veterinary anesthesiology and/or pain management.
  • Develop an extramurally funded research program that includes collaboration with other scientists, advising of graduate student research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Provide challenging, student-focused, delivery of Anesthesia courses utilizing multi-modal learning within a collaborative climate.
  • Commitment to student success and continuous learning through formative and summative assessment and curricular modification.
  • Progressively build on student’s skills and knowledge through well-designed course modules accompanying case based and live-animal laboratories.
  • Contribute to the development of novel research initiatives or continue evolving your established research profile while collaborating with experienced research scientists.
  • Share talents with a sense of humor, and a hopeful, caring, and open attitude.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
