About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring a veterinarian to provide compassionate in-home hospice and euthanasia care in Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Irvine, Newport Beach, and surrounding California communities. The privately and family-owned organization emphasizes professional independence, meaningful medicine, and respect for veterinarians, without veterinarian non-compete agreements or corporate production pressure. Veterinarians provide end-of-life care in clients’ homes, spending time with pets and families during important appointments. The role offers professional autonomy with support coordinating appointments, families, and aftercare. Hospice experience is not required; onboarding and support are provided as veterinarians transition into this field. Full-time and part-time schedules are available, including two-, three-, four-, and five-day options and self-managed flex scheduling. Compensation is prorated for agreed schedules. Four-day positions start at $120,000 annually, and five-day positions offer a $145,000 annual base salary, with additional quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities. Benefits vary by position and eligibility.
Requirements
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Active North Carolina veterinary license or eligibility.
- Valid driver's license.
- Compassionate approach and commitment to exceptional end-of-life care.
- Availability consistent with the position's schedule, including some weekends.

- Hospice experience is not required; support is provided for transitioning into this field.
