About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring veterinarians to provide in-home hospice and peaceful euthanasia care for pets and their families in Chicago, West Chicago, DeKalb, and surrounding Illinois metropolitan areas. The privately and family-owned organization emphasizes professional independence, compassionate care, and meaningful appointments, with a support team coordinating appointments, families, and aftercare. Hospice experience is not required; support is provided during the transition into this field. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available on 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-day schedules, including self-managed flexible scheduling. Compensation is prorated for agreed schedules: 4-day positions start at $110,000 annually, and 5-day positions offer a $135,000 annual base salary, with additional quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities. Benefits and eligibility vary by position.

Requirements

DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree.
Active North Carolina veterinary license or eligibility.
Valid driver's license.
Compassionate approach and commitment to exceptional end-of-life care.
Availability consistent with the position's schedule, including some weekends.

Hospice experience is not required; the employer will support veterinarians transitioning into this field.
