About The Position

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an experienced recruiter to join our team to assist in the expansion of our military veteran outreach. This position will be responsible for recruiting prospective employees with a focus on former and transitioning service members. This position acts as a central point of contact and liaison with the various military installations and veteran support organizations. You will work closely with veteran agencies and represent NNS at various veteran events and career fairs. The environment is very fast paced, so the ability to multi-task will be important as you will also have recruiting actions such as reviewing applications, conducting interviews, extending formal job offers, and supporting candidates through the pre-employment process. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

Prior military service and experience navigating service member transition agencies is highly preferred.
Candidate should be prepared to complete all required actions to gain access to military installations.

Responsibilities

Conducts interviews to recruit prospective employees and refers job applicants to specific job openings.
Evaluates employment factors such as job experience, education and training, skills, knowledge and abilities, physical and personal qualifications, and other data pertinent to classification, selection, and referral.
Prepares rating on applicants, makes recommendations on starting salaries, and provides applicants with information on the company.
May administer tests and interpret results, check references, arrange transportation of selected applicants, extend formal job offers, work with outside agencies and vendors, etc.
Acts as a central point of contact and liaison with various military installations and veteran support organizations.
Represents NNS at various veteran events and career fairs.
Reviews applications, conducts interviews, extends formal job offers, and supports candidates through the pre-employment process.
Develops connections with candidates and stakeholders to efficiently and effectively achieve goals.
