About The Position

Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicles, equipment and vehicle parts using hand tools and power tools. Diagnoses automotive and equipment failures for long-term corrective action that can/may involve investigative and research techniques.

Requirements

High school degree or GED is required.
3+ years vehicle mechanic experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Technical school is preferred.
ASE Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose automotive failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective action. Involves researching defective mechanically- controlled items/parts, instructional information to complete the repair process when needed. This entails logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals, technical library and the CCMS system while utilizing a systematic approach.
Perform repairs or replacement as needed to meet or exceed manufacturer requirements.
Performs preventative maintenance work, e.g. visual inspections, lubricate, change fluids, change filters, change wiper blades, adjust belts, etc.
Change or repair pneumatic tires on equipment.
Requisition of parts from the storeroom for materials needed to perform PM’s and repairs.
Reports all materials used in performance of repairs on work orders. Document all labor used in performance of repairs on work orders.
Perform modifications to vehicles as directed.
Maintains shop cleanliness.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
