About The Position

Clean Harbors in Dolton, Illinois is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to repair and perform preventative maintenance on company-owned fleet vehicles and equipment. The role supports a safety-conscious team and includes vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, helping drivers address vehicle issues, moving equipment around the yard, and maintaining facility housekeeping. The mechanic must follow safe work practices and ensure equipment is parked and secured according to facility permit and DOT requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a team environment.
At least 1 year of experience working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
At least 1 year of DOT inspection experience.
Must provide own basic tools.
Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical test upon hire.

Responsibilities

Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes, and act safely at all times.
Move company equipment safely on the yard as needed.
Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
Complete daily checklists as required.
Ensure equipment is properly parked and secured in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
Maintain the facility through housekeeping duties.
Perform other duties and tasks assigned by management or required by the needs of the business.
