About The Position

RK Mechanical is seeking a VDC Coordinator to turn mechanical designs into models that help shop and field crews build with confidence. The role involves modeling HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, coordinating with other trades to resolve clashes, and preparing fabrication-ready deliverables for complex construction projects.

The coordinator works alongside experienced VDC Specialists and Project Leads, connecting design and construction while developing technical, project coordination, and communication skills. Work spans model setup through spool packages, with attention to detail helping keep projects moving.

Requirements

• A college or university degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• A firm understanding of AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks in a 3D environment.
• Ability to interpret designs, make sound decisions, and take ownership of identifying and correcting problems.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to solving problems.

Nice To Haves

• Mechanical VDC/BIM experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models of ductwork, piping, and plumbing systems using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and 3D imaging tools.
• Prepare batches and spool packages for fabrication, number ductwork, and create files for the plasma cutter.
• Place 3D hangers on piping and ductwork systems.
• Coordinate with other trades and internal teams, lead coordination meetings, and help resolve model clashes.
• Identify design conflicts, write RFIs, and recommend solutions.
• Annotate drawings with elevations and dimensions, complete redlines, and plot drawings to PDF.
• Organize drawing files and project models, create templates to RK standards, and prepare backgrounds for designers and drafters.
• Build knowledge of mechanical systems and VDC software through hands-on project work.
