About The Position

Webberville Middle & High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as the Varsity Girls Track Coach. This part-time position is responsible for developing and leading the track and field program for our varsity girls team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and motivating environment that encourages student-athletes to excel both on and off the track, while emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience in track and field or a related sport, preferably at the high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of track and field techniques, training methods, and competition strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and competition schedules.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe upon hiring.
  • A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes, ensuring a balanced approach to athletics and education.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all school district employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct daily track and field practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all athletes.
  • Develop training programs tailored to the skill levels and needs of individual athletes, focusing on technique, strength, and endurance.
  • Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and respect among team members, promoting good sportsmanship at all times.
  • Coordinate and oversee the logistics of track meets, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and team communication.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff and school administration to align the track program with school goals and policies.
  • Maintain clear communication with athletes, parents, and school officials regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance updates.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols, including adherence to the rules set forth by the governing athletic association.
  • Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and trends in track and field coaching.
