About The Position

The Varsity Girls' Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive, values-based volleyball program that reflects Wichita Collegiate School’s mission and educational philosophy. The coach fosters a positive team culture centered on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while supporting the student-athlete experience. The role includes mentoring student-athletes, promoting leadership and character development, and building a program that supports competitive success and student well-being.

Requirements

Previous volleyball coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level.
Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
Commitment to the values and mission of an independent school.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
Ability to actively coach on the court during practices and games.
Ability to lift and move athletic equipment when needed.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and lead all aspects of the volleyball program.
Develop and implement a program philosophy aligned with the school’s mission and values.
Design and conduct practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy.
Coach scheduled games and prepare the team through scouting, film review, and strategic planning.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture emphasizing leadership, accountability, and sportsmanship.
Mentor and support student-athletes’ personal, social-emotional, and leadership development.
Encourage balance between athletics, academics, and student well-being, and monitor academic eligibility.
Collaborate with the athletic department on schedules, travel, uniforms, and equipment.
Communicate professionally with players, families, administrators, and other coaches.
Assist with team selection, player evaluations, and program development across levels when applicable.
Maintain equipment inventory and support program needs, including budget requests when appropriate.
Promote the volleyball program within the school community and support off-season development opportunities.
