About The Position

This position assists the head coach in all assigned duties related to football and coaching the Varsity team. The role focuses on helping students develop skills, appreciate discipline and sportsmanship, and build self-esteem. Responsibilities include ensuring practice areas are safe, contributing to positive public relations, recommending equipment purchases, supervising locker rooms, applying current medical procedures for athletic injuries, setting a good example for students, and ensuring participant eligibility and insurance coverage. The coach must also be knowledgeable of football rules, league regulations, and district policies.

Requirements

Must be reliable, responsible and dependable and fulfill obligations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before administrators, staff, parents and students.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.

Responsibilities

Assists the head coach in any assigned duties related to football in addition to coaching the Varsity team.
Assumes responsibility for checking all practice areas each day and removes hazardous objects from the practice area.
Helps develop a positive public relations program in the school and the community.
Makes recommendations to the head coach for purchasing equipment.
Provides supervision in the locker rooms before and after practice.
Provides the latest and up-to-date medical procedures for the treatment of athletic injuries.
Conducts himself in a manner that will set a good example for students to follow on and off the field.
Assumes responsibility with the head coach for eligibility of participants and insurance coverage of team members.
Assumes responsibility for knowing the latest football rules, South Carolina High School League rules and regulations and School District policies regarding interscholastic sports.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
