About The Position

The Boys Varsity Soccer Coach / Teacher will implement and maintain an athletic program that fosters competition, good sportsmanship, and community pride. This role also contributes to the educational program as a whole, supporting the growth of students involved in athletics. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, a valid Texas Teachers Certificate, and satisfactory background check results. The coach will manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, working with other staff to align instructional goals with the overall educational development of student athletes. Responsibilities include establishing performance criteria, protecting student athletes and equipment, ensuring compliance with UIL rules, monitoring eligibility, and developing the coaching program. Student management includes supervising athletes during competitions, advising on NCAA regulations, and enforcing discipline. Communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers is essential. Administrative duties involve maintaining inventory, records, and UIL reports, as well as coordinating campus-level basketball events. The role may involve supervising student athletic assistants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid secondary or all level certification
  • Texas Teachers Certificate
  • Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
  • Minimum of 3 years coaching experience at 4A or 5A High School level
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules & regulations
  • Ability to instruct, supervise, and implement leadership qualities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to attract athletes to basketball program in grades K-12

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain an athletic program that fosters competition, good sportsmanship, and community pride.
  • Contribute to the educational program as a whole to the growth of students involved in athletics.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the assigned program.
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules.
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.
  • Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions.
  • Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
  • Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain accurate supply inventory and equipment records.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all UIL reports, records, and other documents on a timely basis.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate supervision of all basketball events at the campus level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, the Director of Athletics or Head Coach.
  • Supervise assigned student athletic assistants.
