About The Position

Kent Place School seeks a Varsity Assistant Ice Hockey Coach for the 2026-2027 season. This role involves coaching student-athletes, understanding the fundamentals of ice hockey, motivating athletes, and possessing knowledge of the sport's rules, strategies, and techniques. The position also requires strong administrative and communication skills, the ability to supervise student-athletes, and adherence to best practices of diversity and inclusion. The coach will attend mandatory meetings, participate in school events, and complete required training.

Requirements

  • Experience at the high school level is required.
  • Must have exceptional leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach student-athletes in ice hockey.
  • Understand the fundamentals of ice hockey.
  • Motivate athletes to reach their potential.
  • Possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
  • Maintain proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, meets, and on school-provided transportation.
  • Promote good public relations through professional standards of conduct and presentation.
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Adhere to best practices of diversity and inclusion.
  • Attend a mandatory preseason parent meeting and training session with the Athletic Dept.
  • Participate in special activities, including senior day, parent night, banquets, awards nights, admission panels, open houses, coaching clinics, and pep assemblies.
  • Complete all coaching accreditation modules and KPS training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Department.
