About The Position

Care Initiatives is hiring a Van Driver to transport residents from its healthcare communities. The role involves providing safe, compassionate transportation to medical appointments, outings, and special events, while supporting residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including wheelchair securement. The driver observes residents during transport, communicates concerns to nursing staff and supervisors, and coordinates with facility teams. The position also includes keeping the vehicle clean and safe and arranging needed maintenance.

Requirements

At least 21 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement.
No more than two traffic violations in the last three years.
No previous driving while under the influence convictions.
CPR and first aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including securing wheelchairs.
Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and functioning vehicle, including fuel, fluids, and basic supplies.
Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
