About The Position

This role will be a key contributor within the Product Management function supporting the Pivot to Value (P2V) Value Engineering team. The intern will play an important role in supporting initiatives that advance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and capacity objectives across GE Vernova's Steam Turbine portfolio. Working alongside Product Managers, Value Engineers, Project Leaders, and Senior Engineers, the Co-Op will support projects focused on value optimization, cost reduction, capacity increases, and implementation of standard steam turbine designs, including D600 and D650 product platforms. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in engineering project execution, business case development, cost tracking, capacity planning, and cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain organizations. Value Engineering is a practice focused on driving continuous value optimization and cost-out across GE Vernova's products and service offerings. Team members identify opportunities to improve processes, increase manufacturing capacity, reduce costs, and enhance product quality while ensuring customer and business requirements are met. The Co-Op will contribute to these efforts through data analysis, project coordination, and engineering support activities.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum sophomore standing with at least one academic term remaining following assignment.
  • Demonstrated academic success with a strong interest in engineering, manufacturing, product management, or project management.
  • Ability to work full-time during the assignment period.

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support Value Engineering initiatives focused on Steam Turbines, specifically D600 and D650 standard engine design implementation and capacity expansion projects.
  • Assist Senior Engineers with engineering analyses, design reviews, documentation, and implementation activities related to standard steam turbine products.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, risks, action items, and value realization metrics for ongoing Value Engineering projects.
  • Support cost tracking and reporting for engineering and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze technical, operational, and financial data to support project business cases and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams to identify opportunities for cost, quality, and capacity improvements.
  • Assist in the development of presentations, project updates, and executive-level summaries.
  • Participate in value engineering workshops, brainstorming sessions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support manufacturing process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing capacity and reducing cycle time.
  • Learn and apply Value Engineering methodologies, project management fundamentals, and cost optimization techniques.
  • Assist with maintaining project documentation, issue tracking, and lessons learned repositories.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardized tools, templates, and reporting methods for Value Engineering projects.
  • Help identify and quantify opportunities for productivity improvements, cost reduction, and value creation across the Steam Turbine product portfolio.
