About The Position

At Agilent, the UX/UI Designer will help transform laboratories advancing life-changing therapies and biological research. As part of the global UX team, this role creates intuitive software and connected workflows that help scientists focus on discovery. The work spans Cell Analysis and next-generation Laboratory Automation, shaping current scientific software experiences and future intelligent, automated laboratories. The position is based in the Santa Clara area, with an option to work remotely, and involves collaboration with scientists, product managers, software engineers, automation experts, and other teams across Agilent's global organization. For Cell Analysis, the designer creates software experiences for instruments, applications, and scientific workflows, develops an understanding of cellular analysis workflows and user needs, and translates scientific, technical, business, and user requirements into workflows, prototypes, and interfaces. The role also helps create seamless experiences across software, instruments, and user touchpoints, and works with UX researchers and stakeholders to evaluate concepts and improve usability. For Laboratory Automation, the designer researches current laboratory work and how automation may shape future workflows. This includes mapping end-to-end processes, identifying pain points, opportunities, dependencies, and automation needs, and engaging customers and internal experts through interviews, observations, and workshops. Research findings are translated into workflow models, recommendations, and opportunity areas that guide product strategy. The designer collaborates with scientists, automation specialists, product managers, and development teams, and validates and refines concepts with users before implementation. Across both areas, the designer advocates for users in cross-functional decisions; partners with Product Management, Engineering, and UX through discovery, design, development, and validation; contributes to Agilent's design system; and uses modern AI-powered design and prototyping tools to support innovation and communication. The role helps shape connected, intelligent laboratory software for scientists worldwide.
