UX Test Engineer

About The Position

STC is seeking a UX Test Engineer to support the Consolidated Cumulus User Experience (Dashboard) team on the EOSDIS Evolution and Development program. The program supports NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System in providing global, open access to Earth observation data. The role is responsible for the quality, reliability, and operational readiness of the Cumulus Dashboard, with a focus on verification and validation of Dashboard code and compliance with security and quality standards. The engineer bridges development and operations and partners with the Core Test Engineer on end-to-end validation. This position reports to the Consolidated Cumulus UX Product Owner.

Requirements

Experience in software quality assurance focused on automated testing for cloud-based or microservice architectures.
Strong scripting skills in Node.js or Python for developing automated test scripts and harnesses.
Hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, Step Functions, and S3, and cloud-native monitoring tools such as CloudWatch.
Familiarity with Earth science data formats such as HDF and NetCDF, and ability to validate structured scientific metadata.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Bamboo, or Jenkins.
Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and simulate complex failure modes in a distributed system.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card holder.

Nice To Haves

Deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles.
Proficiency with Agile management tools such as Jira.
Experience leading technical teams within a complex DevOps/CI/CD environment.
Knowledge of SDLC and production deployment workflows.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test suites for Cumulus Dashboard and UX code.
Verify that Cumulus UX releases are operationally sound and scalable for large-scale mission use.
Manage a regression test library to ensure UX software updates do not negatively affect existing functionality.
Ensure code aligns with system standards and security requirements.
Collaborate with UX Developers to validate that code runs correctly across the system.
Develop test cases for expected and edge-case user flows in the Dashboard environment.
Support Tier-2 resolution by providing technical evidence and test logs for UX-related failures.
Identify, document, and track defects; work with UX Developers to verify fixes and confirm remediation.
Partner with the Core Test Engineer to validate UX code integration with backend system workflows.
