About The Position

STC is seeking a Senior UX System Operator/Developer for the Consolidated Cumulus User Experience (Dashboard) team within the EOSDIS Evolution and Development program. The program supports NASA’s Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) in providing global, open access to Earth observation data. This senior technical implementer combines software development with hands-on operations, building and maintaining scalable Dashboard infrastructure, handling UX support requests, monitoring performance, and ensuring SLA compliance through CI/CD pipelines and proactive incident response. The role reports to the Consolidated Cumulus UX Product Owner. The position is responsible for developing foundational Cumulus Dashboard software and infrastructure, maintaining system health and performance, supporting operational requests, and resolving issues in accordance with SLAs. It also includes testing and documentation, security updates, root cause analysis, and communication about system status and resolution progress.

Requirements

At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
Experience with Agile development, preferably Scrum or SAFe.
Experience using the Atlassian tool suite, including JIRA, Confluence, and Bamboo.
Experience developing on MacOS X and deploying to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Expert-level experience with AWS infrastructure, specifically S3 data management (versioning, locking, and cross-region architectures), Lambda, Step Functions, and RDS.
Proven track record developing and optimizing core libraries, APIs, and complex software systems.
Commitment to automated testing, CI/CD integration, and rigorous documentation standards.
Proficiency in root cause analysis for high-level system errors and infrastructure bottlenecks.
Programming proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, and Terraform.
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident/Green Card holder.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and continuously improve foundational Cumulus Dashboard software for scalable operations and throughput optimization.
Develop and optimize Cumulus Dashboard software, including internal libraries and APIs.
Integrate data backup and preservation technologies, including AWS S3 versioning, locking, and cross-region or cross-cloud strategies.
Produce and manage comprehensive software documentation for developed features.
Integrate technical requirements and inputs from the Systems Architect, Systems Engineer, and Cloud-Infrastructure Engineer.
Ensure architectural and infrastructure designs adhere to documented SLAs.
Execute CI/CD, system testing, and performance testing for Cumulus Dashboard software updates.
Maintain standards-driven CI/CD pipelines and provide automated testing support.
Maintain automated unit and integration tests for new platform features.
Perform system sustainment tasks, including security updates and Cumulus system health monitoring.
Address bugs and issues in accordance with SLA commitments.
Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring technical failures.
Communicate system status and resolution progress to the UX Product Owner, Operations Manager, and Data Operations Team Leads.
Monitor system health, performance metrics, and operational status of the Cumulus Dashboard environment.
Handle UX operational support requests and drive timely resolution in accordance with SLA commitments.
Develop and maintain operational runbooks, monitoring dashboards, and automated alerting capabilities for the Dashboard environment.
