About The Position

The UX/UI Researcher will support the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of government websites and digital learning experiences. This role is responsible for conducting user research to understand stakeholder needs; identifying barriers in website navigation and content access; and translating findings into actionable recommendations that improve usability, accessibility, and engagement. The UX/UI Researcher will work closely with designers, content teams, developers, and program stakeholders to ensure websites are intuitive, user-centered, and aligned with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in User Experience, Psychology, Education, Information Science, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in UX research
  • Demonstrated experience with mixed-method research approaches, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and journey mapping.
  • Experience translating research findings into practical recommendations for website structure, navigation, interface design, and content presentation.
  • Knowledge of accessibility, inclusive design principles, and usability best practices for public-facing websites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, content authors, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct user research for government websites, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and journey mapping.
  • Develop user personas, user flows, and journey maps for key audiences such as researchers and public users.
  • Evaluate existing websites and digital products to identify usability issues, navigation challenges, content gaps, and friction points.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative user data, including behavioral analytics, survey responses, and testing results, to generate insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with UX/UI designers, developers, and content strategists to inform wireframes, prototypes, page layouts, and interaction patterns.
  • Recommend improvements to information architecture, navigation, labeling, search, and page design to support easier access to educational content and resources.
  • Ensure research findings support accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly digital experiences, including compliance with accessibility standards and best practices.
