About The Position

Nordhealth is seeking an AI UX Design Intern to help design intuitive, user-centered experiences for AI-powered healthcare tools. The intern will work on conversational interfaces, data visualization, and AI-assisted decision support, helping make complex technology accessible and trustworthy for users. This is a hands-on, three-month internship contract, with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment. The role involves translating AI capabilities and user needs into clear user journeys and interaction designs; creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes; and testing AI-powered prototypes with users. The intern will analyze feedback and usability data, collaborate with AI engineers, product managers, and researchers, and present design concepts, research findings, and recommendations to internal teams. Key challenges include designing for uncertain or ambiguous AI outputs, handling low-confidence responses and errors, maintaining user trust, and communicating AI capabilities and limitations through the interface. The position is based at Nordhealth, a remote-first company headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking, wireframing, and prototyping; include a link with the application.
Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma or Sketch.
Knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing methods, and user research.
Demonstrable interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and human-AI interaction.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.

Responsibilities

Translate complex AI capabilities and user needs into simple, elegant, and accessible user journeys, user flows, and interaction designs.
Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes for AI-driven features, including conversational interfaces and data-heavy interfaces.
Design and conduct usability testing sessions for AI-powered prototypes to gather qualitative and quantitative user feedback.
Analyze user feedback and testing data to identify pain points, usability issues, and friction or mistrust in human-AI interactions.
Collaborate with AI engineers, product managers, and researchers to iterate on designs and balance user needs with technical feasibility.
Document and present design concepts, user research findings, and design recommendations to internal teams.
