About The Position

Neighbor is hiring a UX Designer for mid- and senior-level opportunities to help shape its two-sided marketplace for self storage and vehicle storage. The role owns end-to-end design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, from framing problems through launch and measurement. The designer will collaborate with product managers and engineers from early concepts onward, use renter and host insights to guide decisions, and help renters compare storage options with confidence. The position reports directly to a Co-Founder and the VP of Product & Design. It also sets a high bar for design craft across the company by mentoring other designers, influencing product direction, and evolving Neighbor’s design and brand system. The role is based in Neighbor’s Lehi, Utah office, in person Tuesday through Friday, with the option to work from home on Mondays; remote work is not an option.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of product design (UX/UI) experience, with shipped work on native iOS, Android, and responsive web.
  • A portfolio showing consumer flows owned end to end and the results they drove.
  • Excellent visual and interaction design craft suited to a consumer marketplace.
  • Ability to plan and run interviews and usability tests independently.
  • Ability to interpret funnels and A/B test results and use them to make design decisions.
  • Expertise in Figma and regular use of AI tools for research, exploration, and prototyping.
  • Clear writing and presentation skills, including the ability to defend decisions to a co-founder or engineer.
  • Ownership of outcomes, willingness to seek hard feedback, and ability to act on it.
  • Ability to work in Neighbor’s Lehi, Utah office Tuesday through Friday; remote work is not an option.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces, e-commerce, or travel and booking products.
  • Experience mentoring designers or leading design for a team.
  • Experience building or scaling a design system.
  • Startup experience or experience as a solo designer owning an entire problem.
  • Comfort building working prototypes in code or with AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, from problem framing through shipping and measurement.
  • Conduct renter and host research, including interviews, usability tests, and session and funnel reviews, and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Study competitors and adjacent marketplaces and design to differentiate Neighbor’s experience.
  • Define success metrics with product managers and engineers, design experiments, and iterate based on data.
  • Use wireframes and prototypes, including AI- and code-assisted prototypes, to put ideas in front of users quickly.
  • Design trust and clarity into product surfaces, including pricing, photos, reviews, access details, and host and renter information.
  • Cover the full user journey, including states, edge cases, and platform conventions, to help prevent production defects.
  • Evolve Neighbor’s design and brand system so product surfaces feel cohesive.
  • Mentor Neighbor’s designers through critique, pairing, and hands-on feedback.
