About The Position

Neighbor is hiring a UX Designer at the mid or senior level to design its two-sided marketplace for self storage and vehicle storage. Hosts list spaces such as garages, driveways, RV pads, and commercial facility units; renters compare options, book, and manage reservations through Neighbor’s website and apps. The designer will own end-to-end product design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, helping renters choose storage with confidence while contributing directly to business outcomes. The role reports directly to a Co-Founder and the VP of Product & Design. The designer will help set the company’s design craft standards, mentor other designers, and shape product direction in partnership with product managers and engineers. The work includes researching renters and hosts, turning research and data into recommendations, co-defining success metrics, and iterating on experiments. The designer will also evolve Neighbor’s design and brand system and ensure a clear, consistent experience across platforms and user journeys. The position is based in Neighbor’s Lehi, Utah office. It requires in-person work Tuesday through Friday, with the option to work from home on Mondays; remote work is not an option for this role.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of product design (UX/UI) experience, with shipped work on native iOS, Android, and responsive web.
  • A portfolio showing consumer flows owned end to end and the results they drove.
  • Excellent visual and interaction design craft suited to a consumer marketplace.
  • Ability to plan and conduct interviews and usability tests independently.
  • Ability to interpret funnels and A/B test results and use them to make design decisions.
  • Expertise in Figma and regular use of AI tools for research, exploration, and prototyping.
  • Clear writing and presentation skills, including the ability to defend design decisions to a co-founder or engineer.
  • Ownership of outcomes, willingness to seek challenging feedback, and ability to act on it.
  • Ability to work in the Lehi, Utah office Tuesday through Friday; remote work is not an option.

Nice To Haves

  • Startup experience or experience as a solo designer owning an entire problem.
  • Comfort building working prototypes in code or with AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design across iOS, Android, and responsive web, from problem framing through launch and measurement.
  • Conduct renter and host research, including interviews, usability tests, and session and funnel reviews, and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Study competitors and adjacent marketplaces and design differentiated experiences rather than imitating them.
  • Define success metrics with product and engineering partners, design experiments, and iterate based on results.
  • Use wireframes and prototypes, including AI- and code-assisted prototypes, to get ideas in front of users quickly.
  • Design trust and clarity into product surfaces, including pricing, photos, reviews, access details, and host and renter information.
  • Design the full journey, including states, edge cases, and platform conventions, to reduce production defects.
  • Evolve the Neighbor design and brand system to create a consistent product experience.
  • Mentor other Neighbor designers through critique, pairing, and hands-on feedback.
