About The Position

Verisk is seeking a UX Designer to create intuitive, accessible experiences for professionals who use its products to complete complex work. The designer will join a cross-functional product team and partner with product managers and engineers to understand user needs, explore solutions, and bring experiences from early concepts through delivery. The role is suited to a UX professional with experience in interaction and interface design who is ready to grow through hands-on product work, customer learning, design critique, and mentorship. The designer will contribute to defined projects while developing the judgment and product knowledge needed to take on greater ownership over time. The role involves designing web and mobile experiences, supporting product discovery and research, applying design-system components and accessibility standards, and collaborating with customers and internal partners. AI-assisted tools may be used to explore concepts and iterate on prototypes, with human judgment, user validation, and company policies for responsible AI use and data protection guiding their use. Success involves understanding users’ environments before proposing solutions, simplifying complex workflows without losing important context, applying standards consistently, and communicating progress and rationale clearly. The designer is expected to use feedback and evidence to improve work and demonstrate curiosity, empathy, attention to detail, collaboration, initiative, and a growth mindset.

Requirements

  • Portfolio demonstrating foundational UX design skills, structured problem solving, and the reasoning behind design decisions.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles, usability heuristics, interaction design, and information hierarchy.
  • Ability to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interface designs using Figma or a comparable design tool.
  • Awareness of responsive design, inclusive design, and accessibility practices, including WCAG guidance.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate across disciplines, receive feedback constructively, and follow through on assigned work.
  • Exposure to user research methods such as interviews, surveys, workflow observation, or usability testing.
  • Ability to organize work, manage details, and contribute effectively as requirements or product constraints evolve.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in UX design, product design, or a closely related role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction, psychology, computer science, information science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing responsive web or mobile applications in a product-development environment.
  • Experience working with a design system or creating reusable components and documented interaction patterns.
  • Experience preparing or supporting usability studies and applying findings to design iterations.
  • Familiarity with insurance, property, construction, restoration, estimating, or other complex business workflows.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools to support research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, content, or documentation while reviewing outputs for accuracy and quality.
  • Prototyping experience beyond static screens, using Figma prototyping, Framer, AI code-assisted tools, or comparable methods.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to interaction and interface design for web and mobile product experiences, from early concepts through implementation.
  • Translate user needs, business requirements, domain workflows, and technical constraints into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to explore design concepts and iterate on early prototypes, applying human judgment, validating ideas against user needs, and following company policies for responsible AI use and data protection.
  • Participate in product discovery and user research, including interview support, note-taking, synthesis, workflow analysis, and usability testing.
  • Apply Verisk design-system components, established interaction patterns, responsive-design principles, and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, researchers, customers, and subject-matter experts to refine problems and deliver feasible solutions.
  • Use prototypes and design artifacts to communicate interaction behavior, test assumptions, gather feedback, and support implementation.
  • Participate in design reviews, explain design decisions, incorporate feedback, and iterate toward usable and consistent outcomes.
  • Contribute to design documentation, reusable patterns, shared libraries, and team practices that improve product quality and consistency.
  • Build knowledge of assigned products, customer personas, and common industry workflows so design decisions reflect users’ work.
  • Stay current with evolving UX practices, accessibility, AI-assisted workflows, and emerging interaction patterns, applying relevant learning with appropriate guidance.
