About The Position

The Utility is responsible for meal cleanup and dining preparation, supporting the Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Director in providing hospitality, service, and satisfaction for residents and guests. The role manages cleanup services in the dining room and kitchen at a Sagora senior living community offering independent living, assisted living, or memory care.

Requirements

Must have a food handler’s permit as required by state and/or local authority.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be caring, organized, and able to multitask.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with residents, families, guests, and other associates.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from tables during mealtimes.
Wash dishes and kitchen utensils and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Remove stains from utensils.
Monitor the dishwashing machine’s temperature daily and promptly notify the Culinary Director of unacceptable readings.
Remove cracked or broken dishes and damaged utensils from service and notify the Culinary Director.
Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for the next mealtime.
Follow established methods for meal preparation and decoration under the Culinary Director’s direction.
Set up tables and the beverage station, and refill salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.
Portion salads and desserts as directed.
Serve meals promptly and courteously, and deliver meals to residents’ rooms as needed.
Dispose of trash properly.
Clean the dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift.
Deep-clean the kitchen monthly.
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer each evening.
