About The Position

The Utility is responsible for meal cleanup and dining preparation, assisting the Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Director in supporting hospitality, service, and satisfaction for residents and guests through dining room and kitchen cleanup. The role is at Lakestone Terrace, a Sagora senior living community. The Utility collects and cleans dishes and kitchen utensils, monitors dishwashing equipment, removes damaged items from service, stores tableware, and helps with meal preparation and dining setup. The position also includes serving meals, delivering meals to residents’ rooms as needed, disposing of trash, and cleaning kitchen areas and equipment.

Requirements

Must have a food handler’s permit as required by state and/or local authority.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be caring, organized, and able to multitask.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with residents, families, guests, and other associates.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from tables during mealtimes.
Wash dishes and kitchen utensils and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Remove stains from utensils.
Monitor the dishwashing machine temperature daily and promptly report unacceptable readings to the Culinary Director.
Remove cracked or broken dishes and damaged utensils from service and report damage to the Culinary Director.
Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for the next mealtime.
Follow established meal preparation and decoration methods under the direction of the Culinary Director.
Set up tables and the beverage station and refill salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.
Ensure salads and desserts are properly portioned as directed.
Serve meals promptly and courteously and deliver meals to residents’ rooms as needed.
Dispose of trash properly.
Clean the dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift.
Deep-clean the kitchen monthly.
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor, walk-in refrigerator, and freezer each evening.
