About The Position

The Utility plays a key role in delivering Sonesta’s mission of providing exceptional service to guests and colleagues. This role maintains cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dishwashing areas by operating dishwashing equipment, cleaning and organizing kitchenware and equipment, removing trash, and assisting with basic food preparation and special cleaning projects as needed. The position also supports banquet setup, follows health and safety regulations, reports maintenance or safety issues, and properly stores Ecolab solutions and cleaning supplies in designated areas upon delivery.

The role requires flexibility to work variable days, including weekends and holidays, and variable shifts, including days, nights, and overnights. The stated pay rate is $28–$32 per hour, following contract requirements.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in basic English.
• Ability to count and follow directions.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform manual tasks in hot, humid environments.
• Flexibility to work variable days, including weekends and holidays.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts, including days, nights, and overnights.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in dishwashing or janitorial roles.
• Familiarity with sanitation procedures and chemical handling.
• Sanitation certification and/or knowledge of a second language.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines to clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Pre-wash items, load and unload machines, and inspect wares for cleanliness.
• Hand-wash kitchen equipment and sanitize surfaces.
• Restock cleaned wares and keep workstations organized.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, bar, bathrooms, and service areas.
• Remove and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Clean and maintain the garbage compactor and trash areas.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety guidelines, including OSHA guidelines.
• Support basic food preparation and banquet setup as needed.
• Follow sanitation, health, and safety regulations.
• Promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
• Store delivered Ecolab solutions and cleaning supplies in their designated storage areas.
