The Utility Worker is primarily responsible for cleaning throughout the plant and scrubber vessels, including removing accumulated ash, coal dust, and scale deposits with high-pressure water-blasting equipment. The work takes place in hot, dusty, and sometimes humid confined spaces, and often at elevated locations accessed by scaffolding or equipment surfaces while using safety harnesses and fall-protection systems. Utility Workers may assist mechanics with routine maintenance and major equipment overhauls. Other assigned duties include cleanup, painting, weed cutting, sandblasting, and erecting pre-engineered scaffolding. Workers operate hydraulic loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, and other mobile equipment, as well as hand tools and other plant equipment. The job description is not all-inclusive and may include other reasonable assigned work expectations.
