Rainbow Municipal Water District is hiring Utility Workers at the I and II levels for its Construction team. The position performs hands-on construction, maintenance, and repair work supporting the district’s water infrastructure, including water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, valves, meters, and related components. Work includes operating construction equipment, locating and repairing leaks, responding to emergencies, preparing job sites, excavating and backfilling trenches, and assisting with roadway repairs. The position works outdoors in varied weather and terrain and is physically demanding. Employees participate in a rotating on-call schedule for weekends and holidays and may respond to after-hours water emergencies. Candidates may be hired at either level based on qualifications and experience. Utility Worker I requires a D1 certification, Class A license, heavy equipment operation, and welding experience as preferred but not required qualifications. Utility Worker II requires D2 certification, a Class A license or welding certificate, and experience in a similar role at a water agency. The selected candidate for the entry-level role is expected to pursue a D1 Water Distribution certification within the first six months if they do not already have it. Qualified candidates not selected immediately may be placed on an eligibility list for five planned positions over the next three years.
