About The Position

The University of Lynchburg is seeking a full-time Utility Worker for Dining Services. The role maintains kitchen, serving, and dining areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition, helping support students and employees. Work is not remote. The schedule consists of 8-hour workdays, with flexibility to include nights and weekends; overtime may be necessary for special projects or events.

Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively and understand, comprehend, and follow directions.
Good teamwork skills.
High school diploma or work experience equivalent with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs and perform bending, kneeling, and lifting.
Ability to work in areas that can fluctuate to extreme temperatures and exposure to cleaning chemicals, smoke, spices, and odors.

Experience working in food service operations.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing and organizing the dish room before each meal service.
Load dishes into the machine to ensure effective and thorough cleaning.
Clean conveyor belts, dish accumulators, and other dishwashing equipment as needed.
Clean and maintain equipment interiors and exteriors, and surrounding walls and floors daily.
Clean and sanitize dining tables, vacuum designated floors, and remove trash to designated areas as needed.
Assist with setup, service, and cleanup of special events and functions as assigned.
Participate in required training related to chemical handling, workplace safety, sanitation, and equipment operation.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
