About The Position

The Maintenance Worker operates trucks, light tractors with mower attachments, and similar vehicles, and performs routine repairs to facilities, furnishings, systems, or machinery. Work may involve duties at higher or lower skill levels as part of a developmental assignment or on an incidental basis. The position works with higher-level trades personnel to service, repair, and test equipment, machinery, and facility structural elements. Other duties include equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance, grounds and driveway maintenance, and routine repair work. A criminal background check may be required.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to completion of the tenth school grade.
• Six to twelve months of experience in equipment or facility maintenance or repair work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Work with higher-level trades personnel to service, repair, and test equipment, machinery, and facility structural elements.
• Carry and position tools, materials, supplies, and replacement parts at job sites for repairs, testing, installation, or other work.
• Assist with repairs and start up or shut down equipment and machinery, including laundry and boiler-plant equipment.
• Clean equipment by brushing and dusting debris from burners, hatches, pipes, and conduits.
• Keep work and storage areas orderly.
• Record activities, materials used, work performed, and relevant circumstances of each job.
• Operate a light tractor with attachments.
• Operate hand and bench power tools, including air compressors, jack hammers, and painting and spraying equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Spread and rake gravel or asphalt when patching and resurfacing driveways.
• Prune, spray, feed, fertilize, and stake trees and shrubs, and otherwise care for them in park areas.
• Rough-finish concrete and perform pointing tasks.
• Perform other work as assigned.
