About The Position

Spire is seeking a Utility Plant Technician to support operations in St. Louis, Missouri. The position is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing buildings, compressors, and associated auxiliary equipment at facilities, outdoor installations, and underground pits and vaults. The role also supports equipment and processes related to natural gas injection and withdrawal, oil field production, propane transportation, and NGL pipeline operations, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient system performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain DOT certification and pass the CDL test with all proper endorsements.
• May be required to work off-hour shifts and overtime.
• Must work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
• May be required to work at heights.
• Demonstrate customer focus, results orientation, teamwork, communication, adaptability, initiative, problem-solving, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Construct, test, alter, or improve piping, valves, and machinery components.
• Operate machine-shop and automated equipment when required.
• Inspect and maintain Gas Supply Department equipment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
• Burn and cut using oxyacetylene equipment.
• Weld structural steel using an electric arc or MIG welder.
• Assist others and perform less skilled work as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
