About The Position

The Utility Person cleans, maintains, and sanitizes all Front of the House and kitchen areas, as well as the outside grounds, to provide guests with a clean and safe dining environment. The role also completes assigned prep work and restocks the cook’s line. Additional duties may include answering phones, bussing tables, line cooking, expediting orders, and running food to support the team.

The position prepares menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations, and specifications; sets up workstations; follows sanitary and safe food-handling practices; and uses appropriate chemicals according to standards. The Utility Person completes daily and weekly cleaning projects and cleans, sanitizes, sweeps, and mops restaurant areas, the parking lot, landscaping, sidewalks, and dumpster area.

Requirements

• Ability to place plates, utensils, pans, and cases on high and low shelves.
• Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation equipment.
• Mobility throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to fellow employees, Front of House staff, and guests.
• Ability to stand and maintain well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight hours.
• Ability to lift pots, pans, and similar items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and sanitize all Front of the House and kitchen areas.
• Clean outside grounds, including the parking lot, landscaping, sidewalks, and dumpster area.
• Complete assigned prep work and restock the cook’s line.
• Prepare menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations, and specifications.
• Set up the workstation.
• Practice sanitary and safe food handling at all times.
• Clean as you go and complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects.
• Use appropriate chemicals according to standards.
• Perform supporting duties as needed, including answering the phone, bussing tables, line cooking, expediting orders, or running food.
