About The Position

The Utility Person cleans, maintains, and sanitizes all Front of the House and kitchen areas, as well as the restaurant’s outside grounds, to provide guests with a clean and safe dining environment. The role also completes assigned food preparation work and restocks the cook’s line.

The Utility Person may also support the team by answering phones, bussing tables, cooking on the line, expediting orders, running food, or performing other duties as needed. The role prepares menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations, and specifications; sets up workstations; follows safe food-handling practices; and completes assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects using appropriate chemicals.

Requirements

• Ability to place plates, utensils, pans, and cases on high and low shelves.
• Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use knives, slicing equipment, and other food preparation equipment.
• Mobility throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to fellow employees, Front of House staff, and guests.
• Ability to stand and maintain well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight hours.
• Ability to lift pots, pans, and similar items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and sanitize all Front of the House and kitchen areas.
• Clean outside grounds, including the parking lot, landscaping, sidewalks, and dumpster area.
• Complete assigned prep work and restock the cook’s line.
• Prepare menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations, and specifications.
• Set up workstations.
• Practice sanitary and safe food handling at all times.
• Clean as you go.
• Complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects.
• Sweep and mop restaurant areas.
• Use appropriate chemicals according to standards.
• Perform additional duties as needed, including answering phones, bussing tables, line cooking, expediting orders, or running food.
