About The Position

Gehl Foods is hiring a Utility Operator to support production teams and provide coverage across lines or processes. The role includes setting up and operating production lines, organizing rework, maintaining line communication boards, training team members on line operation and related equipment, control systems, documentation, and sampling requirements, and troubleshooting production issues. The operator also uses a forklift to supply production materials and audits staff paperwork for accuracy and timeliness. The position is scheduled for first shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at a base rate of $20 per hour, with pay potentially based on experience.

Requirements

• Three years of manufacturing experience, ideally in food, process, high-speed packaging, or Form-Fill-Seal industry.
• Previous forklift experience.
• Technical knowledge of aseptic processes, equipment, and products.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret, communicate, and execute plans or instructions in a time-sensitive manner with limited direction and resources.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for 8+ hours, and lift up to 55 lbs.
• Team-player mindset and ability to show up on time and ready to work.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional production teams and provide coverage to various lines or processes.
• Make proper hook-ups and perform line setup activities to start and operate lines.
• Organize and execute rework.
• Ensure line communication boards are filled out.
• Train new team members on line operation, including equipment and control system operation, documentation, and sampling requirements.
• Troubleshoot and communicate production issues to the Supervisor.
• Safely operate a forklift to keep the assigned work area supplied with necessary production materials.
• Audit line staff paperwork to ensure it is completed accurately and in real time.
