About The Position

The Utility Operator performs housekeeping, janitorial, and other ancillary functions at the Old Fort, Ohio manufacturing facility. Work includes cleaning production areas and equipment, preparing the plant cafeteria for meetings and activities, assembling and handling pallets, transporting materials, maintaining grounds, and operating a forklift. The role may also involve confined-space entry, working at heights with fall protection, and training for other department positions to cover absences. The position is listed at $22.80 per hour, with a stated schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The posting also says the employee must work any shift during the week as well as weekends.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Manufacturing or industrial experience.
Use safe operating procedures and sound judgment.
Follow facility rules to maintain the quality and integrity of raw materials and finished products.
Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
Familiarity with the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principles.

Nice To Haves

Six months of forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Sweep, shovel, and clean departments, RBC floors, loading docks, and relevant outdoor areas, including baking soda or other residue.
Clean and scrape trays in dryer units during the bi-weekly column wash, including confined-space entry and work at heights with fall protection.
Set up the plant cafeteria for plant manager meetings, training sessions, and other plant activities.
Assemble Cat Litter display pallets according to customer orders.
Re-stack or re-palletize units weighing up to 50 pounds to meet customer requirements.
Lift and carry bagged raw materials for use in Bi-Carb operations.
Perform groundskeeping, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and interior and exterior painting.
Sort pallets by lifting and removing unusable pallets.
Train for positions in other departments to qualify to cover short- and long-term absences.
Perform non-routine duties as assigned.
Work any shift during the week, as well as weekends.
Operate a forklift safely and in a timely manner.
Operate the dump crane at the garbage disposal site and transport barrels using a hand truck, as required.
