Your role: As Utility Operator, you will be responsible for executing on wheat transactions and safely conducting operations in other departments in a cost effective and efficient manner. Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
  • Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbally.
  • Strong work planning and decision-making skills.
  • Analytical skills to recognize and assess problems.
  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Must be willing and able to work 7:00am-7:00pm weekends, Holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts when needed.
  • Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.
  • Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or plant operations.
  • Experience as a team lead.
  • Experience as a forklift, skid steer, shuttle wagon, or rail car operator.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding and following all personnel and equipment safety policies; all GMP, HACCP, Sanitation policies; following all Business Unit policies and procedures.
  • Understand written customer specifications and blend wheat to meet customer specifications.
  • Safe and efficient operation of wheat elevator systems.
  • Sampling wheat from railcars and conveying systems.
  • Analyze wheat with lab instruments.
  • Safely operate lab analytical instruments.
  • Climb stairs between floors of elevator.
  • Wear full-body secondary fall protection harness if necessary.
  • Safely and efficiently set up, unload, and complete barge unloading.
  • Qualify to safely and efficiently operate the Bobcat and attached equipment.
  • Position rail car gate opener on hopper gates.
  • Operate pneumatic rail car gate opener.
  • Open and close rail pit dump gates.
  • Enter data into plant control system for record keeping.
  • Use compressed air to blow down overhead ledges.
  • Operate Track Mobile and Cable Puller Equipment
  • Follow verbal and written instructions (English).
  • Communicate with peers and supervisors (English)
  • Operation of automated, computer controlled wheat blending system.
  • Communicate with truck drivers and railroad switch crew.
  • Operate rail track switches to move cars to proper tracks.
  • Sanitation: keep assigned work area clean, tidy and uncluttered.
  • Other related job tasks / functions as assigned by management.
