About The Position

Maryland Masonic Homes, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Cockeysville, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a Full-time Utility Mechanic/Electrician. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, performing routine maintenance, responding to service requests, maintaining lighting, collaborating on projects, ensuring safety compliance, record-keeping, and assisting with energy-efficient upgrades. The position requires availability for on-call and weekend rotations and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
Valid state electrician license (Journeyman or Master Electrician depending on state requirements).
Minimum 3 years of experience as a residential or commercial electrician.
Knowledge of safety practices and regulatory standards.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical codes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working around seniors.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, tight spaces).
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 50 pounds.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
Communicates with other departments.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a healthcare or retirement facility.
Familiarity with emergency power systems and fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with local and national codes.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure the safety and efficiency of all electrical systems.
Respond to service requests from residents and staff in a timely and courteous manner.
Maintain lighting systems both interior and exterior.
Collaborate with other maintenance personnel on facility-wide projects.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and other safety regulations.
Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Assist in the planning and installation of energy-efficient upgrades.
Be available for the on call and weekend rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
