Utility Locator (Delphi, IN)
About The Position
Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate underground utilities and help protect utility infrastructure. The company has operated since 2001 and conducts utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. This role is for a self-motivated professional who can work independently in an assigned territory while communicating effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members. The position requires working in all weather conditions, maintaining company equipment and vehicles, and participating in an on-call rotation. Requirements
- At least 2 years of utility locating experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities
- Locate underground utilities in compliance with applicable 811 dig laws.
- Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
- Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
- Mark utilities accurately using paint and flags.
- Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
- Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
- Communicate with excavators, property owners, and team members.
