Utility Locator (Superior, WI)
About The Position
Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator for its Locate Services Division in Superior, Wisconsin. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and performs utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. This is a full-time employee role for a self-motivated professional who can work independently, maintain accurate and clean utility marks, and communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members. The role requires working in all weather conditions, maintaining company equipment and vehicles, participating in an on-call rotation, and being willing to travel and work overtime or flexible schedules. Pay is $18.00–$30.00 per hour, and the company states employees are paid door to door.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of utility locating experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
- Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and without supervision.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel.
Responsibilities
- Locate underground utilities in compliance with applicable 811 dig laws.
- Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
- Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
- Mark utilities accurately using paint and flags.
- Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
- Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
- Communicate with excavators, property owners, and team members.
- Work in all weather conditions and travel as required.
